A senior at the Harker School and principal oboist in his school orchestra, Spencer also enjoys skiing, playing tennis and serving in student government. His compositions have been premiered by ensembles across the country, and he was inducted into both the Music Teachers Association of California Young Composers Guild and Young Artists Guild in 2021. He won the Chopin SF Competition, CAPMT State Honors Competition, the Marilyn Mindell Competition and has performed at Carnegie Hall. Spencer had his orchestral debut with the Palo Alto Philharmonic in 2019 and will perform with the Golden State Youth Orchestra and the Harker School Orchestra in 2022. A two-time YoungArts winner in classical music, Spencer has won prizes in multiple national and international competitions, including third prize in the San Jose International Piano competition and first place in the Music Teachers National Association Composition Competition.
